Natalie Fischer, BSW

Social Work Intern

Natalie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder. During this time, she interned with Blue Sky Bridge, a nonprofit Boulder-based organization that conducts forensic interviews with children who have experienced abuse. This intro to a multi-disciplinary team sparked her interest in working as part of a coordinated care team.

Desiring a more holistic systems perspective, Natalie attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City for a Master’s in Forensic Psychology program. It was through her studies of the criminal justice system that she found her calling in taking a person-in-environment perspective, which she is currently pursuing at University of Denver in the Master’s in Social Work program. For her foundation year internship Natalie worked at Progressive Therapy Systems as an offense-specific therapist in both individual and group therapy settings.

Natalie was drawn to Sanare Psychosocial Rehabilitation for her concentration year internship due to the organization’s emphasis on holistic well-being, functioning across multiple domains, fostering of coordinated care teams, and the meaning of the word “Sanare”—to heal.

Natalie believes that healing is an iterative, collaborative process between a client and a therapist that requires empathy, earned trust, compassion, and radical acceptance.

Natalie believes in a multi-disciplinary approach tailored to a client’s unique and constantly evolving needs with emphasis placed on each client’s strengths. Among her primary modalities are Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness.

Her hobbies include reading, crocheting, baking, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her friends and family. She believes the key to happiness is surrounding oneself with dogs.
